Ronald Gold Overcash

d. April 13, 2010

Obituary: Mr. Ronald Gold Overcash, 59, of 6979 Untz Road, Concord, NC peacefully left this temporary job for a more permanent job on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, surrounded by his loving family and close friends at CMC-NorthEast. His unexpected and brief illness (less than 24 hours) would have made him happy to know that his family would not have to suffer with him Mr. Overcash was born on June 21, 1950 in Mecklenburg Co., NC, the only son of Agnes Gold Overcash of Concord and the late Carl Osborne Overcash. Ron was known for his strong work ethic that began as a young man in the hay fields alongside his father and sisters. He believed in hard work and often worked seven days a week or whatever it took to get the job done. He was a graduate of NW Cabarrus High School, class of 1969, where he played basketball, football and baseball. He had a successful career with Pepsi Cola, but had a deep longing to work for himself. Ron owned Overcash Gravel and Grading, Inc. which included; hauling, grading, dump trucks, real estate, rentals and commercial land holdings, snow plows, and timber work. He was a true business entrepreneur with a "get it done" attitude. He was never too busy to stop and help a friend. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson and often took trips for pleasure. The true loves of his life were his sons, Travis and Taylor and he has passed along his great strength and work ethic to his boys. He loved spending time with them, and teaching them as much as he could, and just being with them for a road trip or a wrestling match was his fun. Ron loved bright colors so his boys chose bright blue for his coffin and, he had saved his fathers casket spray so that he could use it himself for his own funeral. His family saw to it that his wishes were granted. Ron is survived by his long lifetime companion and the mother of his boys, Janet Biggers. His boys; Taylor Overcash and Travis Overcash. A step-daughter, Tiffany Cook Hinson and husband, Josh of Concord. His mother, Agnes Gold Overcash of Concord and 3 sisters; Candace Pierce and husband, Gene of Concord, Melanie G. Overcash and husband, Bill Goodnight of Concord and Cynthia Overcash and husband, Donald Pence of Conyers, GA. Also by 2 nieces and a great niece. The funeral for Mr. Overcash was at 4p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Gilwood Presbyterian Church in Concord officiated by Rev. Alan Buckner.
