Obituary: Ronnie Earl Parks, age 71, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Huntersville Oaks, Huntersville, NC. He was born June 4, 1944 in Durham County, NC, the son of the late Walter Leon Parks and Martha Naomi Propst Parks. Ronnie was a 1962 graduate of South Rowan High School, the first graduating class in the new school. Ronnie was employed as a technical specialist with Duke Energy having worked with the company for thirty-nine years. He was also an avid farmer growing up in the area where the Parks families had many acres of farm land. He was an active member of First Evangelical Methodist Church, Kannapolis, where he was active as an usher & a maintenance handyman around the church. Ronnie was known by many as a person who would help people in need in his neighborhood and as a problem-solver. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Barbee. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 5:30 PM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. David Hayes. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of forth-three years, Jan Kenerley Parks; a daughter, Angie Parks Power & husband, Tony of Kannapolis, NC; a son, Andy Parks & wife, Megan of Kannapolis, NC; three grandchildren, Alexis Parks, Harper Parks, Trinity Power; two sisters, Joyce Deal & husband, Jerry of Kannapolis, NC and Jane Evans & husband, Mack of Salisbury, NC; and a brother-in-law, Henry Barbee of Concord, NC.
