Obituary: Rosalie Kelly Huggins Denny, age 92, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a period of declining health. She was born November 16, 1921 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Samuel E. Kelly and Blanche Kennedy Kelly. Rosalie was a 1939 graduate of the former Cannon High School. She was employed as a secretary for the former Cannon Mills Company, Filter Plant Office, for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC where she was involved in the Ruth Kale Sunday School Class. Among her many other interests included volunteering at the former Cabarrus Memorial Hospital and later NorthEast Medical Center. She also delivered Meals On Wheels and before her eyesight failed, she loved doing needle point. Family meant everything to her. She found joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They could always bring a smile to her face. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Vincent W. Huggins: her second husband, Garvel C. Denny; a son, Vincent W. Huggins, Jr; and a great-grandson, Corey Wallace. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Kirk Tutterow. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Huggins & wife, Kathlyn of Charleston, SC; Dianne Cagle & husband, Don of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Amy Huggins Coffey & partner, Laurie-Ann of Concord, NC; Elizabeth Benning & husband, Dennis of Charlotte, NC; Donny Cagle & wife, Jannae of Cartersville, GA; Kelly Wnuk & husband, Mark Montgomery, AL; Allison Costantino & husband, Tony of Greenville, SC; Bryan Mims & wife, Alyson Fayetteville, NC; Casey Huggins and Kimberly Huggins, both of Greenville, SC; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a special daughter-in-law, Ann Dunn of Cornelius, NC.
