Rose “Rosie” Cook Ray, 67, went to be with her Heavenly father on Friday evening, May 21, 2021, from her home.
Born July 15, 1953, in Rowan County, Rosie was a daughter of the late Grover Junior Cook and Ruby Rebecca Basinger Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Ray and 1 sister.
Mrs. Ray had retired from the Kannapolis City School System after more than 20 years of devoted service. She loved all of her family and had a special love for animals, especially her Dachshund, “Bo”. She was loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Although in a much better place today, Mrs. Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family members include her children, Tamitha Rogers, Sonja Zimmerle, Rebecca Phillips, Melody Ray and Del Ray; 2 sisters; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Graveside services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Ray will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 26th, at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Pastor William Moody will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Ray’s name may be made to Hospice of Rowan County, 301 S Main Street, Salisbury, NC 28144, or to Novant Health Cancer Institute, 631 Mocksville Avenue, #1020, Salisbury, NC 28144.
