Rosemary Griffin

Obituary: Rosemary Godfrey Griffin, 92, of Kannapolis went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Universal Health Care, Concord following a period of declining health. She was born October 25, 1925 in Union County, N.C. a daughter of the late Cyrus Leroy and Sara Vernetta Godfrey. Also preceding her in death were her husband of 52 years; Conroe Griffin, four brothers; Harold, Carl, William and Luke Godfrey and four sisters; Nancy Belk, Margaret Stewart, Ruth Brantley and Naomi Griffin. Family members left to cherish her memory are two daughters; Sarah Bowers and husband Franklin of Kannapolis, and Joan Hughes and husband Rodney of Albemarle. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Brian White and wife Madi, Craig White, Katie Efird and husband Jeff, Brooke Garcia and husband Hernan, along with seven great grandchildren; Kahi White, Noah White, Brianna White, Jackson Efird, Peyton Efird, Alexis Garcia and Nadia Garcia. Rosemary was a graduate of Cannon High School and was employed at Cannon Mills Plant #1, towel cutting room with over 30 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Kannapolis where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years in the children's department. She loved and supported her church with a generous heart. Rosemary loved crossword puzzles, playing board games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was excellent with adult coloring books. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church conducted by Dr. R.J. Hammond. The family will speak to friends following the memorial service. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in her honor to the Salvation Army, 216 Patterson Ave SE, Concord, NC 28025 or to Calvary Baptist Church, 703 Buick Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
