Roy Taylor Campbell

Obituary: Roy Taylor Campbell, 80, of 7486 Beaver Rd., Kannapolis, NC died at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis on April 29, 2015. Roy was born on Dec. 18, 1934 in Rowan Co., NC the son of the late Floyd William Campbell and the late Estelle London Campbell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Greene Campbell and a brother, Bob Campbell. Roy was owner/operator of the former Ridge Ave. Shell service station in Kannapolis from 1959-1972. Later he was a building contractor working for the late Joe Armentrout for many years. He was known as a devout Carolina Tar Heel fan. Roy is survived by three daughters; Renee McCraven of Kannapolis, Kim Duffy of Mooresville and Barbara Yow (Jimmy)of Concord; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Smith of Kannapolis, a brother, Marty Campbell and 2 uncle's. Roy is also survived by a dear friend, William P. Ashley. A graveside service will be held following the receiving on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at St. Enoch Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 2-3:00 p.m., Sunday before the service. At other times the family will be at the residence.
