Obituary: Mr. Roy Francis Corn, 90, of 1369 Quail Drive, SW, Supply, NC, formerly of Kannapolis died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at his residence following a period of declining health. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. David Stratton and Rev. Jim Grigg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 P.M. prior to services. At other times they will be at the residence of a granddaughter, Emily and Daniel Wallace, 2792 Brantley Road, Kannapolis, NC. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. Mr. Corn was born February 5, 1919 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Richard F. and Luna Baxter Corn. He was employed at Cannon Mills Plt. #1 in the sample dept. retiring after 45 years of service. Following his retirement he and his wife moved to Supply, NC. He was a member of Brunswick Islands Baptist Church in Holden Beach and a former member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Kannapolis where he had served as a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He loved to garden and fish. He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Naomi Taylor Corn of the Home, One Son: Phillip Corn and wife Diane of Kannapolis, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 3 greatgreatgrandchildren.
