Roy David (R.D.) Kincaid

Obituary: Roy David (R.D.) Kincaid, 80, of Kannapolis passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at CMC NorthEast after a brief illness. He was born January 2, 1931 in Rowan County, the son of the late David Thomas and Rena Thompson Kincaid. He was preceded in death by a son, Philip Ward Kincaid, two sisters and two brothers. R.D. was a veteran of the US Army that served two tours including one in the Korean War with the 58th Engineer Treadway Bridge Co. and was a member of the Chosen Few. After coming home, he worked on various jobs until going to work for Ketchie-Houston Machine Shop for many years. He attended Memorial United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, spending time at his place in the mountains and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Jim Brookshire and Rev. Edwin Chriscoe. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 prior to the service. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeweldean Howard Kincaid, his daughter Marilyn Kincaid Overcash and husband David of Kannapolis, 4 grandchildren: Meredith Wyrick and husband Matt, Ethan Overcash, Blythe Overcash, Rebekah Overcash all of Kannapolis, two great-grandchildren: Maddox Wyrick and London Gray, two sisters Peggy Kincaid of Concord and Faynelle Miller of Kannapolis and many nephews and nieces. R.D.'s requests that no flowers be sent, but memorials may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 1100 West C St., Kannapolis, NC 28081 and/or the American Cancer Society 6000 Fairview Rd, Suite 200 Charlotte, NC 28210.Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
