Roy Lee Raffaldt, Sr.

Obituary: Concord, NC- Roy Lee Raffaldt, Sr., age 67, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a period of declining health. He was born September 10, 1941 in Lancaster County, SC, the son of the late Gus Raffaldt and Esther Moree Raffaldt. He was employed with the former Pillowtex Corp., Plt. #1 Maintenance Dept. Kannapolis, NC for over 30 years. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. He was an avid fisherman having spent much time at Lake Tillery. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Margie Adams Raffaldt; and five brothers, Winford, Lawson, Robert, Emmanuel, and Jerry Raffaldt; and a sister-in-law, Sybil Raffaldt. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 18, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Steve Sexton and Rev. Joey Spry. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the funeral home and will be at the home the remainder of the time. Survivors include his two children, Roy Raffaldt, Jr. & wife, Amy of China Grove, NC and Janet Raffaldt of Concord, NC; four grandchildren, Abigail Raffaldt, Damien Segreti, an unborn child, and Matthew Vinson; four brothers, James Raffaldt & wife, Telma of Concord, NC, David Raffaldt and Dwight Raffaldt & wife, Gail, both of Kannapolis, NC, and Donnie Raffaldt & wife, Deborah of China Grove, NC; three sisters-in-law, Brenda Grimm and Edith Raffaldt, and Jilda Raffaldt, all of Concord, NC; and many nieces & nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to hospice and two special people, Derek Segreti and Jennifer Wensil for their love & care for Roy during his illness.
