Ruben Atlas Meeks

Obituary: Ruben Atlas Meeks, 90, of China Grove, NC died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Brian Center of Concord. Mr. Meeks was born on September 4, 1926 in Cabarrus Co. a son of the late Ruben Junior "R.J." Meeks and, the late Marie Eddings Meeks. In addition to his parents Ruben is preceded in death by a brother, James Meeks and a sister, Louise Meeks Carter. Ruben was a veteran having served in the Navy. He was also a member of the V.F.W. He is survived by a son, Bobby Meeks and wife, Susan; three daughters; Sandra Blackwelder, Pamela Humble and Carla Meeks; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15th at North Kannapolis Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Ron Hartman. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until the funeral hour at the church. Burial will be at National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with military honors at a later date. The family would like to offer their thanks and express their appreciation to Dr. George Hall and his wife as well as the staff of Brian Center for the attention, care, and professionalism shown, not only to their father but also to their family during his stay at the Center.
