Rubie Oliver Drye

Obituary: Rubie Oliver Drye, 88, of Kannapolis passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015. She was born September 16, 1927 in Chesterfield County, SC, the daughter of the late James Walter Oliver and Carrie Virginia Woodward Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis M. Drye on Feb. 12, 2015 and her brother, James Ottis Oliver. Rubie retired from Cannon Mills where she worked at Plant 1, Cutting Dept. for many years. She was a member of Kannapolis Church of God where she had been a member of the Pathfinders and the Queen Esther Sunday school classes for many years. Rubie loved taking care of people all her life. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. Greg Sloop and Rev. Barbara Watkins. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Tuesday prior at Whitley's. She is survived by two sons, Doug Drye and Terry Drye (Janet) both of Concord, daughter, Cathy McRorie (Mike) of Kannapolis, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and her sister-in-law, Faye M.
