Obituary: Ruby Blanche Lipe Craig, 78, of Landis, NC passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Transitional Health Services. She was born September 26, 1934 in Iredell County, the daughter of the late Roy and Florence Fesperman Lipe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barrett Craig on Sept. 11, 2000 and her sister, Sarah Lee Crouch. She was a graduate of Mt. Ulla High School. In earlier years, she enjoyed going camping with her late husband. She was a member of South China Grove Baptist Church where she was a former choir member. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel officiated by Rev. Don Davis. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 PM prior at Whitley's Annex Chapel. She is survived by her two daughters, Terri Thompson (Ronnie) of China Grove and Rhonda Craig of Kannapolis, two grandchildren, Matthew Thompson (Crystal) and Candace Welch (Tommy), four great grandchildren; Barrett and Aubree Thompson and Avery and Cooper Welch, and three sisters, Evelyn Kerr of Mt. Ulla, Frances Orbison (Ed) of Mt. Ulla, and Myra Heglar (Wayne) of Rockwell. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Road Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28210 and/or American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church St., Suite 336M, Charlotte, NC 28202.
