Ruby Gentry

Obituary: Ruby Gentry, 90, of China Grove, NC died at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014. Ruby was born on Dec. 7, 1923 in Kannapolis, NC, the daughter of the late Claude Wilson Hamilton and the late Oma Samantha Tilley. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, James Gentry. Mrs. Gentry retired as a weaver from Cannon Mills. She is survived by her 2 sons; Steve Gentry (Brenda) of Salisbury and Mike Gentry of Concord; a daughter, Debbie Sawyer (Bill) of Raleigh; 6 grandchildren, Darren, Randy, Chris, Jeni, Heather and Danny; 4 great grandchildren; Matthew, Nicholas, Vaughn and Sebastian. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum conducted by Rev. John Barnhardt. Entombment will follow at West Lawn. The family will be at Whitley's Funeral Home from 10-10:30 a.m. before the service at West Lawn.
