Obituary: Myrtle Beach, S.C. - Mrs. Ruby Elizabeth Graham, 91, formerly of Carolina Ave. Kannapolis, NC died April 26, 2009 in Myrtle Beach, SC where she had lived for the past 2 years. She was born August 17, 1917 in Denver, NC the daughter of the late Horace Allison Cherry and Hazeleen Howard Cherry. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Harold Graham, two sisters Travis Weatherman and Doris Jean Cherry, and two brothers Woodrow Cherry and James Cherry. She was a graduate of Rock Springs High School, Denver, NC Class of 1934. She had worked at Cannon Mills Co Set Dept for 35 years and at Belk's- Carolina Mall. She was a charter member (1943) of Royal Oaks Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis where she had sang in the choir, held offices in the Women of the Church organizations, taught Sunday school, adult advisor to the youth, and an Elder in the church. She loved music and loved to sing. She was a member of a quartet that sang at community activities and was active in Kannapolis and Concord Senior Centers chorus and she played the hand bells. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday April 29, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Larry Pittman. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. She is survived by two daughters, Libby Drapeau and husband Don of Blacksburg, Va., and Wanda Freeland and husband Jack of Murrels Inlet, SC., 3 grandchildren, Dana Bischoff and husband Kenneth of Morton, Ill. Danielle Brown and husband Tom of Tokyo, Japan, and Ashley Miller and husband Brian of Chicago, Ill., 4 greatgrandchildren, Connar and Hayden Brown, Mark Bischoff, and Jack Miller, and a brother Ervin Cherry of Ocala, Fl. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Morningside Assisted Living in Kannapolis, Myrtle Beach Estates, Grand Strand Healthcare, and Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrels Inlet for their love and care.
