Ruby C. Greene

Obituary: Ruby Cassidy Greene, 91, of Kannapolis passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at the Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House. She was born November 27, 1921 in Chesterfield County, SC, the daughter of the late Andy and Effie Bowles Cassidy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt E. Greene in 2005. She had formerly worked at Cannon Mills Wash Cloth Dept. for 20 years. She ran a daycare at Brookdale Baptist Church for 10 years. She then owned/operated Old Colony Daycare for 12 years. She also had volunteered at the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital Gift Shop for a number of years. She was an active member of Brookdale Baptist Church where she had worked with the GA's, former Sunday school teacher and was past president of the Senior Citizens group for 20 years. She loved working in her yard, especially flower gardening and watching her many hummingbirds. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Brookdale Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church prior from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. She is survived by her two daughters, Jean Sisk (Robert) of Raeford, NC, Diane Basinger (Bruce) of Kannapolis , her son Ron D. Greene (Joyce) of Jackson, Tenn., her brother, J.C. Cassidy of Mocksville, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Brookdale Baptist Church, 2511 S. Ridge Ave., Kannapolis, NC 28083 and/or Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
