Ruby Overcash Hutchinson

Obituary: China Grove, NC- Ruby Overcash Hutchinson, age 86, formerly of Kannapolis and a resident of China Grove Retirement Center, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 22, 2009.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Judy White and Rev. Erin Yow.Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum, Kannapolis, NC.The family will receive friends tonight on Monday, March 23, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, and from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. For more than sixty years, Ruby was a faithful member of Royal Oaks Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Ladies' Circle, and for more than forty years, she faithfully kept the nursery.For many years, she had perfect attendance. When Royal Oaks Presbyterian Church closed, she became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.Also, she served as a Cub Scout den mother and was retired from Cannon Mills, Plt.#1 after forty plus years of service. Ruby was born December 27, 1922 in Troutman, NC to the late William Franklin Overcash and Jettie Lippard Overcash Gunnell.She was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Ray Overcash, Willard N. Overcash, and Walker J. Overcash. Survivors include a daughter, Ann E. Hutchinson Wilson and her husband, Roger of Denver, NC; a son, Jon B. Hutchinson and his wife, Ann of Kannapolis; a brother, W. Hugh Overcash of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Frances B. Overcash Hartline of Mooresville, NC; and two granddaughters, Maria A. Hutchinson Russell and her husband, Kevin of Boone, NC and Joanna L. Hutchinson Preston and her husband, Jonathan of Manteca, CA. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of China Grove Retirement Center for the loving care they gave "Miss Ruby".
