Obituary: Ruby Sasser O'Neal 74, of Concord passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at her residence following a period of declining health. Mrs. O'Neal was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on March 29, 1939 a daughter of the late Claude and Annie Vinson Sasser. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband George M. O'Neal who died in 1995, a brother; Bruce Sasser and a sister Doris Sasser. Ruby was employed by Belks Dept. Store in Concord as a sales associate for 29 years. During her time with Belks she was a pacesetter and won several awards for her exemplary service. She was a volunteer for 12 years at CMC-NE, and was a faithful and active member of Broadus Baptist Church. Ruby was fond of animals, especially cats. She was known for looking after and taking care of feral cats. Funeral services for Ruby will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday July 13, 2013 at Broadus Baptist Church with Rev. J. Rodney Quesenberry, and her brother Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 at the Church on Saturday prior to the services. She is survived by her son; Steve M. O'Neal and wife Laura of Franklin, TN, her daughter; Sharon O. Carter and husband Scott of China Grove, grandchildren; Chloe and Alex O'Neal , a brother; Rev. Johnny Sasser of Dudley, and several nieces and nephews.
