Ruby Lee Price Pennell

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Ruby Lee Price Pennell, age 92, formerly of Dale Avenue, died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Kernersridge Assisted Living, Kernersville, NC where she had lived for the past 3 ½ years. She had been in declining health for several years. She was born July 18, 1917 in Alexander County, NC, the daughter of the late James Lee Price and Bessie Lola Stein Price. She was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt.#1 Sewing Room for 41 years until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC since 1934 where she was a former Sunday School teacher, active in the WMU, & with the Forever Young Senior Citizens Group. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Maynard E. Pennell who died in 1998 and a daughter, Janette P. Higgins in 1978. The funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 1, 2009 at West Point Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Blair Bridle. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include her son, Dr. Wayne E. Pennell & wife, B.J. Bauermeister of Blacksburg, VA; Her grandchildren & their spouses, Judy Felton and Sheree and Kris Williams, both of Kernersville, NC, Vicki and Brent Tomlinson of Manteo, NC, Scott and Christine White of Kannapolis, NC, Todd Pennell and Tori Pennell of Missoula, MT, Mandy Pennell and Greg Perkins of Billington, WA, and Dawn White of Denver, NC; Her great-grandchildren, Brandon Whitley, Joshua and Cole Pennell, Summer Tomlinson, Jonathan White, Lindsey White, Oliver Perkins, Derrik Green, and Austin Perkins; And her great-great-grandchildren, Tyler Pennell and Jayden Pennell.
