Obituary: Ruby Bumgarner Sloop, 81 formerly of Florida Avenue, died Friday, June 24, 2011 at Genesis Health Care Center, Salisbury following a period of declining health.Mrs. Sloop was born August 20, 1929 in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late Guy G. and Dovie Bost Bumgarner. She had retired from Cannon Mills with 25 years of service.Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Gene Edwards. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday 6:00-8:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence of a daughter, Marcie Dunlap, 2005 Florida Avenue, Kannapols. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, C. A. Sloop, Sr.She is survived by two sons: Steve Sloop and wife Patricia of China Grove, Chris Sloop, Jr and wife Tina of Rockwell, three daughters, Patricia Wallace of Welcome, Marcie Dunlap and husband David of Kannapolis,Wanda Blackwelder and husband Bennie of China Grove. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 27th at Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 28th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park.
