Ruby Owen Watts

Obituary: Ruby Owen Watts, age 85, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a brief illness. She was born June 25, 1931 in Halifax County, VA, the daughter of the late John H. Owen and Jenny Canada Owen. Ruby moved to Richmond, VA in 1961 and was a waitress at Phillips Continental Lounge. She went on to become a realtor for Jack Null Reality. She moved with her family to NC in 1996. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, watching reality TV, and recently found a love for adult coloring. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters, Mable Hudson and Jeanette Ligon; and seven brothers, Cradock, Hubert, Billy, John, Frank, Clyde, and Earl Owen. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 24, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Dr. Steve Ayers. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the funeral home. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie W. Owens and husband, Brian of Harrisburg, NC; a sister, Rosa O. Powell of Danville, VA; granddaughters, Shannon N. Owens and Kristin O. Jones and husband, Evan, both of Concord, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
