Rupert Daniel Johnson

Obituary: Rupert D. Johnson, age 75, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, November 13, 2009. He was born October 24, 1934 in Dillon County, SC, the son of the late Rufus Pete Johnson and Eliza Jane Gibson Johnson. He was employed with the former Fieldcrest-Cannon, Inc. for forty years and was an active member of Vision Baptist Church, Rockwell, NC. He was educated in Little Rock, SC and proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years. The funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Trooper Ferguson and Rev. Roger Bostic. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kay Perry Johnson; his daughter, Patty Overcash & husband, L.A. of Landis, NC; his son, Billy Johnson & wife, Lisa of Salisbury, NC; his sister, Cordail Petrea of Kannapolis, NC; his brother, Percy Johnson of China Grove, NC; and eight loving grandchildren; and also a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends that loved him dearly. Memorials may be made to Vision Baptist Church, 10185 Old Beatty Ford Road, Rockwell, NC 28138. The family will be at the home of Patty Overcash, 908 S.
