Ruth Smith Bowlin

Obituary: Ruth Smith Bowlin, age 86, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at her home after a period of declining health. She was born May 31, 1927 in Dulley County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Henry A. Smith and Cora B. Thompson Smith. Ruth was raised by her mother during the Depression without her father who died very early in her life. Ruth was employed with the former Linn Mills, Landis, NC from 1974 to 1981. She also worked at the former Cannon Mills and the former Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. Ruth was a member of Corriher Heights Baptist Church, China Grove, NC. In addition to her parents Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bowlin who died February 7, 2004; three brothers, William J. (Jack) Smith, Luther Smith, and Henry Smith; and three sisters, Pauline Everson, Glennie Spry, and Beulah Gibson. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 14, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Gene Edwards. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Survivors include her son, Randy L. Bowlin & wife, Dorothy of China Grove, NC; one brother, Walter W. Smith of China Grove, NC; two grandsons, Jesse Brown and Terry Brown, both of China Grove, NC; a granddaughter, Krissie Bowlin of China Grove, NC; and one great-granddaugher, Jersey Brown.
