Ruth Dunlap Cress

Obituary: Jessie "Ruth" Dunlap Cress, 82, of Concord died at her home Sunday, September 30, 2012 after a period of declining health. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Ruth was born in Waxhaw, NC, a daughter of the late Clyde and Alice McGuirt Dunlap. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Gene Cress and 7 brothers and sisters. Ruth was a long-time area resident. She was employed with Cannon Mills Co at Plant #10 where she held various positions until she retired. Ruth "fought the good fight" of life and believed "In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works" She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Cress King and her son, Jackie Cress (Loretta) both of Concord; her grandchildren, Susan Solomon, Lorita Childress, Lisa King, and Angel, Gayle and C.J. Cress. Ruth is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Geraldine Gray, Molly Furr and Betty Zane and her brothers, Clyde Dunlap, Sr. and Joe McGuirt.
