Ruth Sigmon Jordan

Obituary: Ruth Lee Sigmon Jordan, 82, of Kannapolis passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015. She was born December 8, 1932 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Seth Odell Sigmon and Edna Gurley Sigmon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Jordan in 2002 and two sisters, Mildred Leatherwood and Frances Nicholson. Ruth retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 sewing room after many years. She also worked part time at Kannapolis City Schools. Ruth loved her family unconditionally and was a very kind person. She was a charter member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #349 and was their first Worthy Matron. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Steve Davis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM prior at Whitley's. She is survived by 3 daughters, Patricia Jordan Goodnight (Jeff), Cindy Van Wieren (William II) both of Kannapolis and Shirley Ruth Jordan of Liberty, SC, grandchildren, Eric Goodnight, Amy Douglas (Andy), Brad Goodnight (fiancé Jessica Morgan), Crystal Stratton, Kevin Barnhardt (Ashley),Rev. William Van Wieren III (Megan) Katherine Aldridge (Charlie), great grandchildren, Mallory, Bricen and Waylen Douglas, Tyler and Angel Stratton, Mya Van Wieren, nephews, David and Eddie Nicholson and niece Leigh Ann Davis.
