Ruth Newman Mccorkle

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Ruth Newman McCorkle, age 90, passed away peacefully at Five Oaks Nursing Manor, Concord, NC on May 24, 2010. Ruth was born March 22, 1920 in Union County, NC, the daughter of the late Dock and Minerva Hudson Newman. Ruth retired from the former Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in 1985 after 30 years as a surgical technician. She enjoyed her work and was highly regarded by her hospital associates and friends. She was a long-time member of Royal Oaks United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC. Ruth is survived by sisters, Dorothy Bell of Charlotte, NC, Lil Fowler of King, NC, Geneva Hyde of Robbinsville, NC, and Betty Sebastian of Charlotte, NC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Five Oaks Manor for their outstanding compassion and care. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC (US 29 North at I-85- Exit 58) Telephone (704) 786-2161. Her nephew, Rev. Eugene Simpson, will officiate her funeral service. Visitation will occur immediately following the service.
