Obituary: Kannapolis Ruth Shinn Noblitt, 94, of Kannapolis passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Tucker Hospice House. She was born February 26, 1919 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Lillington and Rosa Shular Stewart. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard B. Shinn in 1974. She and Howard were former owner/operators of Royal Garbage Service. She is survived by her husband, Rev. H. Donald (Don) Noblitt, four sons, Ronald Shinn (Dottie) of Akron, Ohio, Jeffrey Shinn (Garlene) of Matthews, Marcus Noblitt (Judi) of Charlotte, Keith Noblitt (Louise) of Burnsville , two daughters, Kay Pruitt(Stephen) of Charlotte, Susan Clontz (Perry) of Waxaw , 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, two sisters, Frances Bostian of Landis and Vera Robertson of Gastonia. Ruth had worked at Cannon Mills Company for 25 years. She also was involved with public relations and sales with Cardell-Carter Motors for many years. She was former president of the Concord Civitan Club. She was an active member of the Concord Business and Professional Women for 30 years. She also served as state hospitality chair for the B.P.W./ N.C. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. She loved ballroom dancing, playing golf, basketweaving and arts and crafts. Funeral services will be held at Midway United Methodist Church on Thursday, Feb. 20th at 2:30 PM officiated by Rev. Burt Williams, Rev. William Van Wieren and Rev. Billy Rintz. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:15 prior in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 708 S. Main St., Kannapolis, NC 28081 and/or Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
