Ruth Hill Parham

Obituary: China Grove, NC- Ruth Hill Parham, age 91, formerly of Beaver Road, Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2015 in her home. She was born February 28, 1924 in Anderson County, SC, the daughter of the late Anderson Nathaniel Hill and Pearl Carlton Hill. Ruth was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, #2 Weave Room for over forty years until her retirement. She was a member of Yadkin Avenue Revival Center, Charlotte, NC where she served as assistant pastor. Her family fondly remembers her cooking especially her homemade biscuits. She also loved flowers and feeding the birds in the yard. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, Rev. Jasper H. Parham; two sons, Walter Lee Parham and Butch Parham; and six siblings. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 13, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Walter Lyman. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the funeral home. Survivors include two sons, Donald R. Parham & wife, Frances of China Grove, NC and Walter Lee Parham, Jr. & wife, Julia of Kannapolis, NC; two daughters, Jackie Lynne Steele and Wanda Elaine Parham, both of Greensboro, NC; fourteen grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Myrtle Chastain, Betty Frost, Howard Hill, Boyce Hill, and Anderson Hill, Jr., all of Georgia.
