Ruth Josephine Snider Shoe

Obituary: Ruth Josephine Snider Shoe, age 94, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House after a period of declining health. She was born March 10, 1920 in Forsyth County, NC, the daughter of the late John Ernest Snider and Mary Elizabeth Cecil Snider. Ruth was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC. Her family fondly remembers her love of cooking and her daughters' dogs. She also had a dry sense of humor, quick wit, and was an avid Tony Stewart race fan. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John Marvin (Whitey) Shoe; one brother, Hubert Snider; and four sisters, Cleo, Carlene, and Jessie Snider; and Margaret Lawson. The funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Jerome Cloninger. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Brinkley of Kannapolis, NC and Joyce (Bill) Lane of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Carol (Forrest) Phillis of China Grove, NC; Amy (TJ) Yow of Salisbury, NC; Leslie (Chris) Martin of Bynam, MS; and Matthew Brinkley of Kannapolis, NC; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Tucker Hospice House and the caregivers at Morningside for their love and care of our mother.
