Ruth Miss Ruth Martin Earnhardt Smith

Obituary: Ruth "Miss Ruth" Martin Earnhardt Smith, 100, of Kannapolis entered the church triumphant on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at CMC-Northeast, Concord, NC following a period of declining health.Mrs. Smith was born November 11, 1911 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the lateJohn Crawford Earnhardt and Emma Mae Dry Earnhardt.She was a lifelong Presbyterian. "Miss Ruth" spent her lifetime caring for other people and received as much personal joy as she gave to those she cared for.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her husband, Douglas M. Smith who died in 1951; and six brothers, Earl Earnhardt, Lee Earnhardt, Bill Earnhardt, Jessie Earnhardt, J.C. Earnhardt and Joe Earnhardt. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Smith Wagstaff and husband Don Wagstaff, Jr. of Kannapolis, a granddaughter, Tiffany Wagstaff, a sister, Dearah Earnhardt Goller of New Jersey and a sister-in-law, Dot Earnhardt of Kannapolis. Nieces and nephews also survive her.Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Dr. John E. Boyd and Rev. Dick Little. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
