Ruth Teal

Obituary: Ruth Alice Smith Teal, age 84, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Transitional Health Services, Kannapolis, NC after an extended illness. She was born October 23, 1931 in Stokes County, NC, the daughter of the late Sam Smith and Mary Odell Stevens Smith. Ruth was employed with the former Fieldcrest-Cannon, Inc. Plant One in Kannapolis for forty-six years until her retirement. Her focus in life was on her family and her work. She enjoyed canning and cooking as special talents and was a devoted Christian having attended various church throughout the years. She especially enjoyed helping the V.F.W. Poston-Perkins Post 8989 because of her husband's service time. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, W. Bruce Teal on February 2, 2000; four brothers; and one sister. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her two daughters, Daphne I. Helms of Concord, NC and Kathy T. Dayvault of Decatur, GA; three grandchildren, Matthew Weaver, Jordan Ennis, and Karen Shaver; seven great-grandchildren, Hannah Nelson, Amber Shaver, Dillon Shaver, Jacob Bentley, Hailey Weaver, and Dallas Weaver; one brother; and three sisters.
