Obituary: Ruth Stirewalt Weddington, 73, passed away Sunday morning, November 20, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House. Born January 31, 1943 in Cabarrus County, Ruth was a daughter of the late Maulice and Annie Mae Blackwelder Stirewalt. In addition to her parents, those preceding her in death include her husband, William L. Weddington and four brothers. Ruth graduated from Winecoff High School and had been a loyal employee of Fieldcrest- Cannon, until its' closing. She had also been a dedicated and active member of Independent Square Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Weddington will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 23rd from 1:00-2:0 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Ruth's life will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Ronnie Cooper. Mrs. Weddington will be placed with her husband in the mausoleum of Carolina Memorial Park. Loving family members include her son Chuck Weddington and wife Tammy, of Concord; her grandchildren Kacey McVay and husband Patrick, and Mitch Weddington and wife Austin; great-granddaughters Karlee McVay and Blakelee Weddington; her sisters Margie French, Carolyn Livengood, Margaret Weast, Linda Staley and Barbara Burchette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
