Ruth Wilkes

Obituary: Ruth Ellen Harrington Wilkes, 68, of Kannapolis passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast. She was born November 13, 1944 in Union County, the daughter of the late John Thomas Harrington and Maude Ellen Plyler Harrington. She retired from Wal-Mart in Concord after 22 years. She loved flower gardening, word search puzzles and watching her hummingbirds. She was a wonderful cook. Ruth was also an avid Nascar fan, especially, Dale Earnhardt Sr. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Enochville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Dale Bost. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Whitley's. At other times, they will be at her home. She is survived by her son, Timothy Darren Wilkes (Cathy) of China Grove, grandchild, Megan Elizabeth Wilkes, three sisters, Jonnie Roseman (Clyde) of Kannapolis, Hannah Bost (Dale) of Polkton, Dawn Gryder (Brad) of Landis and a niece and three nephews.
