Sadie Hurst

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Sadie Lee Gulledge Hurst, 92 of Kannapolis died Aug. 18, 2016 at CMC-NE after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 22 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Monday. Sadie was born December 1, 1923 in Anson Co. NC, a daughter of the late George Nathaniel Gulledge and Mae Bullard Gulledge. She was a long time area resident and formerly attended Ben Avenue Free Will Baptist Church. In early years Sadie worked at Cannon Mills as a weaver, later she stayed home to raise her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Sadie was preceded in death by her husband, Mareen T. Hurst in 1986 and 2 sisters; Sue Martin and Daisy Brooks. Her memory will be cherished by her 2 daughters; Edna Conner of Kannapolis and Judy Pinnix of Yadkinville, her grandchildren, David Quentin Conner, Ashley Pinnix, Dustin Pinnix and great-granddaughter, Abigale Pinnix as well as several nieces and nephews.
