Sadie Mildred (Sutton) Pennell

Sadie Sutton Pennell, 88 years old, of Midland, formerly of Kannapolis, received ultimate healing on Saturday, October 28, 2023.  Sadie was born on October 22, 1935, in Rowan County to the late John William and Cordia Sloop Sutton.  Sadie graduated from Landis High School and lived for many years in Kannapolis.

Over the years, Sadie worked as a seamstress and in local fabric stores, was a secretary at Cannon Mills and local churches and was a homemaker.  She loved being a grandmother and spoiled her beloved grandchildren.  Sadie was the most delightful flower girl at her granddaughter Holly’s wedding in 2022.  She also loved observing wildlife, growing flowers, and caring for her dog Nellie, and talking on the phone with her friends.

Sadie was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Pennell in 2018, and all five of her siblings.  Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kevin Pennell and his wife Laura, her grandchildren, Holly Pennell Gillespie and her husband Joshua, Emily Pennell, and Matthew Pennell, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 1-2pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow at 2pm in the Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
