Sally Louise Woodie Pethel

Obituary: Sally Louise Woodie Pethel, age 76 of Kannapolis, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Thursday Feb. 16, 2012. Mrs. Pethel was born Feb. 25, 1935 in North Wilkesboro, NC, the daughter of the late Corbett and Minnie Woodie. Mrs. Pethel worked for Cannon Mills for many years before fulfilling her dreams as owner/operator of Sally's Flower Shop in Kannapolis. She was a member of West "A" Tabernacle Baptist Church for 45 years where she was a beloved member of the choir and participated in various gospel singing groups. Sally dedicated her life to her Lord, her family and to her many friends. She was much loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Pethel has a large and loving family. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, the Rev. Richard Pethel, and her children, Dianne Little (David) of Landis, Rick Pethel (Debby) of China Grove, Rev. Chris Pethel (Janet) of Mooresville, Teresa Efird ( Dean) of Landis. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scarlott Pethel Milem, Dawn Honeycutt, Ritchie Pethel, Amber Lewis, Jason Pethel, Rodney Efird, Derick Efird, Julie Brant, Allison Little and Garrett Deal; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 5 sisters, Lois Absher (Erban),Anne Ellis(Harvey), Pat Combs, all from NorthWilkesboro,NC, Gayle Deal(Leonard) of Kannapolis and Carol Edwards(Michael), of Elkin,NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday,(Feb.18) from 6-8 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will be held at Whitley's Funeral Home chapel on Sunday, Feb 19 at 2:00 pm. It will be conducted by her son Rev. Chris Pethel and her pastor, Rev. Mike Austin. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care of Rowan County.
