Obituary: - Samuel Reeves Boger, 88 died October 3, 2013, in the Liberty Lane Hospice House at the Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC, after several months of declining health. Sam was born December 24, 1924, in Kannapolis, the son of the late John Gorman Boger, Sr. and Rose Campbell Young Boger. Sam served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also a Cabarrus County Deputy Sheriff and Chief of Police in Belhaven, NC. Sam is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Anna Huntley Boger; his daughters Jennifer Boger West and husband Bill of Everett, WA and Dee Boger Shultz of South Daytona, FL; his stepdaughters Dottie Vinson Ross and husband Owen of Charlotte, NC and Debbie Vinson Winchester and husband Mike of Monroe, NC; his grandchildren Amanda Loorya Black of Sneads Ferry, NC and Larry Loorya of Norfolk, VA and his great-grandson Braeden Tyler Black of Sneads Ferry, NC. In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by his son Samuel Reeves Boger, Jr., his brother John Gorman Boger, Jr., and his sisters Nell Boger Teal, Ruth Boger Jones, and Blanche Boger Hammond. In accordance with Sam's wishes, no service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cabarrus County Law Enforcement Officers Association, PO Box 91, Concord, NC 28026.
