Obituary: Samuel Michael Esposito, 65 of Concord, NC died peacefully on 1/31/2016, with his family at his side. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on 7/26/1950 to Pasquale and Felma (Domenico) Esposito. At the age of 2, his family moved to Ashtabula, Ohio. Samuel graduated in 1968 from Ashtabula High School. In April of 1972, he was commissioned by the Ohio State Highway Patrol as a trooper. On April 30, 1999, he was raised to the rank of sergeant, serving at the Saybrook Post. During his career, he was also an instructor at the patrol academy in Columbus, Ohio. On August 9, 2003, after 31 years of service, he retired from the state highway patrol. He and his wife Michele Wilson Esposito (married 4/17/92) moved to Concord, NC for the next chapter of their lives. Sam loved Nascar, and was an avid sports fan. He had season tickets to several tracks, following his favorite driver Tony Stewart. Living in NC, Sam continued to be a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and Ohio State Buckeyes, never missing a game. Sam worked in customer service at Carolina Panther's Stadium, for several years, calling it his "fun and free football". In April of 2004, Sam began work with Carolinas Healthcare System-University in the security department. Soon after, he moved into Corporate Security at CHS-Main. At Main, he was and investigator and trainer, until his cancer progressed preventing him from doing what he loved, any longer. Samuel Esposito is survived by his wife Michele and children: Jared Swiger of Ashtabula, Ohio, Corey (Anita) Swiger of Monument, Colorado, and Cassandra Swiger of Concord North Carolina. He had one sister Patty Jo (Tom) Cooney of Ashtabula Ohio. Sam was "Papa" to his six beloved grandchildren: Malakai Swiger, Noah Swiger, Logan Swiger, Matthew Swiger, Harlow Johnson and Caden Swiger. He was a" special papa" to Madeline Riester. At Sam's request, no calling hours will be observed. His family will have a requiem mass and celebration of life ceremony, to be held at a later date, for all those whom loved him and wish to attend. A very special appreciation to the entire security department of CHS, Dr. Paul Campbell, Dr. Garry Schwartz, Levine Cancer Center-NE staff, Christy Hargett, RN, Dr. John Heinzerling, Amanda Cromer, NP, and Betsy Clark, MSW.
