Obituary: Samuel Jackson "Jack" Glenn, 88, of Kannapolis died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at Five Oaks Manor. He was born February 19, 1923 in Union County, NC, the son of the late James M. and Nannie Crowe Glenn. He attended J.W. Cannon High school. He was a veteran of the US Navy for 4 years serving in WW II and became First Class Petty Officer. He served in three invasions and toured 15 different countries and received three bronze stars. He was a former member and vice-president of the former Royal Oaks Optimist Club. He was a former neighborhood scout commissioner and member of the Order of the Arrow organization of the Boy Scouts of America. He is a member and former deacon of Second Presbyterian Church. He retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon where he worked in the Sheet Department. After retiring, he ran a locksmith business. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cleo Ketner Glenn, two sons, Keith Glenn (Patricia) and Doug Glenn (Ginger) , four grandchildren, Andrew Glenn, Brandon Glenn (Shannon), Lindsay Glenn and Amanda Glenn, and a great-granddaughter, Riley Glenn. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Michael Waters. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior at Whitley's.Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 1578 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
