Obituary: Sandra "Joyce" Eddleman Bowles, 83 of Kannapolis passed away early Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones after a long-term illness. Born in Cabarrus County, July 14, 1935, daughter of the late James Frank Eddleman and the late Myrtle Chambers Funderburk. Mrs. Bowles and her husband, Don, were very involved and dedicated members of Centergrove Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. Mrs. Bowles worked at Cannon Mills, was a salesperson and manager for Tupperware, and was a member of the National Society of Tole and Decorative painting. She taught painting classes, and later followed her love and passion to traveling the world with her husband/best friend to share their talent with others at craft shows. When they were all traveled out she kept herself busy at Neta's Children's Shop. She was very involved in Sunday school, handled all the funeral meals and visited Shut-ins with the pastor. She did several paintings for the church, Jesus knocking on the door that's in the Parlor room on the north side of the church. She also did backdrop paintings for plays and productions, she was on the money accounting team, served on Council several terms and assisted with communion set up. She made prayer shawls, was on the ladies quilting team. She posted messages on the bulletin boards and organized several large fundraising baking sales, made bags for people who went to the hospital that were in her Sunday School class. She also kept the Sunday school role and recorded the Sunday school offering money. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Donald Bowles of 68 years, brother, Harold Eddleman, and sister, Gail Eddleman; Nephews, Jeff Hodge and the late Dean Eddleman; Nieces, Patti Asberry and Lisa Faggart; daughters, Donna Bowles Wigger of Charlotte, Sherry Bowles Smith and husband Bill of Cornelius, Tonya Bowles Hess of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Nathan Tuck, Joy Dry, Angela Tow, Wes Mott, Tristen and Tiffany Hess; great grandchildren, Madeline and Alana Burch, Emily Dry, Sandra and Alex Tuck, Jake Mott, Braylen Hess, Miyah Goodjohn. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26 at Center Grove Lutheran Church with Pastor Ginn officiating, burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the service. She was a quick witted, funny, special person, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She never met a stranger and was a very giving person. She will be greatly missed by family, close friends and all who knew her.
