Sara Louzene Winecoff Rodgers, 88, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Sara was born on October 8, 1935 in Cabarrus County, NC to the late David Raymond Winecoff Sr. and Mildred Kiser Winecoff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Henry Rodgers, and brother, David R. Winecoff Jr.
Sara worked as a quality control inspector for Wisscassett before retiring. She enjoyed playing softball with her coworkers at Cannon Mills Plant #6 Mill #4. In her free time, she loved traveling, gardening and canning vegetables, and taking ceramics classes. She was a faithful Christian and was a lifelong member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Dale Alan Rodgers and Darrell (Vickie) Rodgers; daughter, Sandra (Rob) Cox; five grandchildren, Todd Coley, Brandi (Charlie) Lackey, Daniel (Megan) Rodgers, Andrew Rodgers, and Madison Cox; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Rodgers, Naomi Rodgers, and Calvin Lackey; sister, Linda Winecoff, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10 2024 at Bethpage Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall. The funeral service will follow in the sanctuary at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Valerie D. Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
