Sarah Griffin Bowers

Obituary: Sarah Annette Griffin Bowers, 69, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at her residence following a period of declining health. Sarah was born March 15, 1949 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Conroe and Rosemary Godfrey Griffin. She had retired from the Cabarrus County School system with 30 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she taught youth and worked with children. Sarah was so proud of her grandchildren. She said "they are going to grow up and be special people". She also said "it is easy to smile because I'm so blessed." She enjoyed going to the beach, playing scrabble, rummy, puzzles and acrylic painting. Family members left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years; Frank Bowers of the Home, one daughter, Katie Efird (Jeff) of Kannapolis, sister, Joan Hughes of Albemarle, two grandchildren, Jackson and Peyton, a special friend whom she considered a sister; Vickie Snyder of Kannapolis and a grand dog, Marle. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church in Kannapolis conducted by Revs. Scott Beasley and Tony Slawson. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 703 Buick Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28083 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
