Sarah Virginia Childers

Obituary: Sarah Virginia Woodward Childers, 95, of Concord, passed away at Autumn Care of Salisbury on Friday, April 3, 2015. She was born on August 25, 1919, in Hartsville, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Samuel Elliott Woodward and the late Lillie Steen Woodward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Childers, and all of her siblings. Mrs. Childers moved to Kannapolis and worked 50 years in the Sheet Department at Cannon Mills until her retirement in 1985. Survivors include her son, Ronald E. Woodward (Jane) of Rockwell; two grandchildren, Jamie Woodward of Summerville, SC, and Susan Woodward Keller (John), of Holly Hill, SC. A graveside service for Mrs. Childers will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. at Carolina Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Mike Hubbard. Memorials may be made to North Kannapolis United Methodist Church, 1307 N. Main St., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
