Sarah Jane (Goodale) Grooms

Sarah Jane Grooms, 88, of Rockwell formerly of Kannapolis passed away peacefully September 4, 2022 in Rockwell, NC surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 22, 1934 in Anson Co., Sarah was a daughter of the late Rowland and Loffie Williams Goodale. In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by four of her children, Wanda Safrit, Gloria Jackson, Martin Goodale and David Grooms, as well as her brother, Arthur Goodale and her sister Mary Aline Bumgardner.

Sarah worked for many years at Cannon Mills #1 Weave Room until she retired. She attended the Universal House of Prayer, was an avid reader, a great cook and liked to watch TV programs that involved history cooking or animals. Sarah was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will dearly be missed.

Sarah is survived by daughter Sherry G. Furr (Randy) of the Home; her grandchildren, Jerry W. Barnhardt, Christopher Lee Bivens, Jason and Shannon Sawyer, Mitchell, Timmie and Melissa Jackson, Traci Brock and Ashley Tyson as well as 8 great-grandchildren including Brittany Jackson whom she helped raise.

A funeral, celebrating her life, will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, September 7, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Lefler officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 7, from 11:00 am to 12:pm before the service,
