Obituary: Sarah Williams Harris, 93 , of Kannapolis, passed away July 25, 2014. She was born August 28, 1920 in Iredell County to Stella Mayberry Williams and Milton E. Williams. Sarah graduated in 1941 from Women's College of Greensboro now known as UNC Greensboro. After WWII she worked at N. C. State University where she met Herman. They were married for 65 years. Upon his graduation from NC State they moved to Kannapolis where they became dedicated, active members of First Baptist Church. Sarah served as a GA and Acteen leader, participated in the Rachel James Circle, served on several committees and taught Sunday school for 40 years before joining Helen Brisson's Sunday school class. She was a member of the Jr. Women's Club and a charter member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club. She and Herman also delivered Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her two daughters: Linda Moore and her husband Sam of Kannapolis and their children Derek and Kati; Jane Miller and her husband Jerry and their sons Andrew and Benjamin of Forest Hill Maryland. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers M.E. Williams of Huston Texas and Lee Williams of Concord, N.C. The family would like to thank Pastor Cabaniss and the church members and friends who supported Sarah during these last months. Special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for the excellent care they provided to Sarah and for the support they provided her family. A graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park on Sunday July 27 at 2 pm. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Harris home. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, 101 N Main St., Kannapolis, N.C. Arrangements are in the care of Whitley's Funeral Home
