Sarah Viola Bennett Morgan

Obituary: KANNAPOLIS - Sarah Viola Bennett Morgan, 96, of Five Oaks Manor, Kannapolis and formerly of Landis, died at Five Oaks Manor on Sunday, April 5, 2009. She was born on April 5, 1913 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late William Henry Bennett and the late Isabelle Gaskey Bennett. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Morgan, a son, Troy Morgan, a daughter-in-law, Carol Morgan, three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Morgan was a member of Rogers Park Baptist Church. She formerly worked with Cannon Mills working at Plant 6 in the spinning department. She retired from the Baptist Children Home in Thomasville, N.C., where she was a house parent. Survivors include a grandson, Dennis Morgan and wife, Shelia, of Kannapolis. Great-granddaughter, Joy Milstead and husband, Billy, of Kannapolis. Three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Milstead, Morgan Mildtead and Brandon Milstead, all of Kannapolis and a daughter-in-law, Dot Morgan of Memphis, Tenn. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Tony Fox. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum Crypt in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home before the service.
