Obituary: Sarah Ellen Wagner Parks, 87, of Kannapolis, peacefully left this earth for her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born February 28, 1928, in Iredell County, to the late James Monroe Wagner and Euphie Ellen Overcash Wagner. Sarah was a graduate of Mt. Ulla High School and was employed for many years as a beautician/barber. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Arnold E. Parks, who died on April 19, 2013; her parents; 12 brothers and sisters as follows: Roland Wagner and wife, Margaret Wagner; Roy Vance Wagner and wife, Marie B. Wagner; Hoyte J. Wagner and wife, Susie L. Wagner; Charlie Wagner; Wilson Wagner; and Treva Wagner; and three infant brothers; sisters Flora W. Plummer and Minnie Lou Wagner Parker. Mrs. Parks is survived by her children, Jenny Parks Linebarrier and husband, Steve; and Kathy Parks Cress and husband Cecil; 5 grandchildren, Julie L. Vargas and husband, Ricardo; Phil C. Linebarrier and wife, Megan; Carrie C. Delong and husband, Greg; Jill C. Kingston and husband, Eric; and Joseph Cress. She is also survived by her nine precious great-grandchildren, Andrea Vargas; Elena Vargas; Brandon Vargas; Carson Delong; Grace Delong; Jake Delong; Claire Kingston and Ellen Kingston; and Emma Grace Linebarrier; brother-in-law, Kermit G. Parks and sister-in-law, Tina Parks; sisters-in-law, Peggy K. Parks, Elizabeth Parks, Margie F. Wagner, and Katherine E. Wagner; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:45 P.M.Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Fellowship Hall of Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Road in Kannapolis, with a celebration of life service immediately following in the church sanctuary at 3:00 p.m. A special thank you to the nurses in the Intermediate Care Unit at CMC Northeast Carly, Shelly, Gloria, Doreen, and the respiration therapists; Dr. Kelly, Dr. Park, and Dr. Ridge; and the special nurses on the Neurosciences wing on 4th floor Carly, Shelly, Lashandra, Krystle, Liz, Melanie, Melissa, Ashlee, and Kat and any others who we may not have named, who lovingly cared for our mother. Also thank you to Dr. Trang Vuong who lovingly cared for mother for many years. Thank you also to the Carolina Home Care staff and especially Jennifer and Robin who lovingly cared for mother in her home over the past year. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethpage Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Service: 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 Bethpage Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, NC.
