Sarah Jane Taylor

January 24, 1935 — June 19, 2021

Sarah Jane Widenhouse Taylor, 86, of Kannapolis, passed away, Saturday, June 19, 2021 after a period of declining health. Born January 24, 1935 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Zeb Vance and Myrtle Irene Black Widenhouse.

During her working years, Sarah was a Station Attendant for Amtrak. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.

Sarah is survived by two daughters, Robyn Alderson (Theresa) of Salisbury and Carla Marie Meeks of China Grove; her son, Michael Alderson (Becky) of Ash; five grandchildren, Holden Scott Meeks (Darci), Hunter Glen Meeks, Michael Alan Alderson, II, Somer Dawn Matthews (Daniel), and Christina Acosta; five great grandchildren, Cayden, Nora, Owen, Cody and Skylar; a brother, Bobby Lee Widenhouse (Gail) of Concord; and her favorite canine companion, Scooter.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Cook, Vance Widenhouse, and Billy Joe Widenhouse; and two sisters, Beulah Smith and Susie Suratt.

A memorial service to honor Sarah’s life will be held 1:00 p.m Saturday July 24, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis. Reverend Susan Morris will officiate.
