Obituary: Scott Dale Dickson, 59, passed away Sunday morning, July 9, 2017 at CHS-Northeast Medical Center, following a period of declining health. Born September 11, 1957 in Albany, NY, he was a son of the late Donald Edward and Margaret Ann Manderson Dickson. Scott was a proud supporter and graduate of NC State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Business Administration and Economics. He had worked in sales all of his life, most recently as sales manager with C.F. Steel. Mr. Dickson was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kannapolis. He lived a life of service and was called to serve in many capacities including Bishopric, Stake High Council, Stake Sunday School, Loudest Choir Member, and his favorite, Young Men's President. As a loving and devoted brother, husband, father, soon to be grandfather and friend of many, his greatest joy in life was the time that he spent with his family. His world revolved around his family, every sports game, every Sunday night dinner, every late night study session, every phone call was important to him and he always said don't forget to say your prayers. He is Big Daddy to all. Anyone that came into his home became a member of his family and was welcomed with his tremendous capacity to love and a great big hug. Most of all he cherished his wife; their eternal marriage was an example of true love and will last throughout the eternities. His love was so evident, all that knew him understood the importance of how to be a true husband and father for his own wife and kids. He taught through his actions that a sacrifice for his family is a sacrifice worth doing. Others around him are better husbands to their own wives because of his example of how he treated Janie. Loving family members include his wife of 35 years, Janie Ball Dickson; his children Joshua Dickson, Spencer Dickson (Molly Sherrill Dickson), Valerie Scott Dickson, Jacob Dickson, Megan Dickson, Christian Hatley (Morgan Hatley) and Kendyl James; his brother Keith Dickson (Karen Dickson), and his two nieces Katherine Furr, and Colleen Larson. In November, Mr. Dickson will become a grandfather when Elijah Dickson is born. His family would like to say "Have fun storming the castle, Dad". The family will receive friends Saturday, July 15th from 9:00 - 10:45 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1601 Cooper Avenue, Kannapolis, NC. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mr. Dickson's life will begin at 11:00 am in the church. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for the surviving children's college fund, 590 Woodend Drive SE, Concord, NC 28025 or via website PayPal.Me/JoshuaKDickson.
