Concord

Scott R. Norris, 68, of Concord, North Carolina, after a struggle with cancer, went to be with the Lord on Thursday August 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell E. Norris Jr., brother, Mark Norris, and nephew Avery Quick.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Shue Howard, of Concord, NC; stepson, Bradley E. Howard, of China Grove, NC; his mother, Winona S. Norris, of Endwell, NY; two sisters, Anita Wasson (David) of Endwelll, NY and Lori Dollard (Brian) of Voorheesville, NY; one brother, John R. Norris (Carolyn) of Endicott, NY; nephews and nieces, Joseph R. Dollard of Albany, NY, Mary Dollard Hilson (James) of Guilderland, NY, Mark Dollard (Bethany) of Rotterdam, NY, Joseph R. Dollard of Albany, NY; and great nephew, Maddox Quick of Lisle, NY.

Scott graduated from Maine- Endwell High School in 1973, received a BA from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, MS from Syracuse University, and attended UNC- Charlotte. Before retiring, he was employed at Central Academy of Technology & Arts, Monroe, NC as a Guidance Counselor and drivers’ education instructor. He also spent many summer weeks at UNC’s summer program for college-bound students in the role of RA. He enjoyed the energetic atmosphere of working with youth and was fulfilled by the opportunity to instruct/help them. This same joy fueled his love for his family and friends. Scott loved auto racing, especially Formula 1. Even after more than 45 years of residence in NC, he still considered himself a Yankee at heart.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
