Sebrina Lee (Bunton) Phillips

June 17, 1970 — February 23, 2024

China Grove

Sebrina Lee Bunton Phillips went to be with her heavenly Father on February 23rd, 2024 at Atrium Health Cabarrus, surrounded by family, holding her hand until her very last breath.

She was born in Iredell County on June 17th, 1970 to Donna Bowlin Bunton and Kenny Ray Bunton “Cooter”. She received her GED through the state of North Carolina and continued her education at Rowan County Community College. Although Sebrina had careers, she was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life.

Sebrina met the love of her life, David, and married on August 21st, 1993. They were devoted to each other for 31 years and were blessed with two children, Savannah Kay Phillips, and Sierra Joy Phillips. She was madly in love with her husband, and her daughters were the sunshine of her existence.

Sebrina and David also took in a “lost count” of number of kids. They raised their daughter’s friends as their own, many of them which moved in, and were loved almost just as much as she loved her daughters. She always joked that their home was a group home.

With two daughters come a lot of pets, Sebrina loved her animals even if she didn’t want them in the first place. She leaves behind Pem, Sparco, Bella, and Ellie but many other beloved pets will be waiting at the golden gates.

She loved listening to music, watching Elevation on tv on Sunday mornings, playing poker, watching football, General Hospital, baked spaghetti, burrito supremes from Taco Bell, and calling her loved ones and friends on the phone constantly!

If you had the privilege of meeting Sebrina, you would’ve experienced love, selflessness, a lot of snacks, loud music (and I mean LOUD), learning a colorful word or two, being begged to be hugged or cuddled, long nights that lasted until the morning, dancing, but most importantly a judgement free zone. She loved everyone for who they were, not because of their past, appearance, color, or age. She had the personality of a fighter and fought until the end. Her selflessness shows in her choosing to be an organ donor.

Sebrina was preceded in death by her father, Cooter; grandparents, Pauline Overcash Bunton, Roy Bunton, Leila Lyles Bowlin, and Donald Bowlin; and mother-in-law and father-in-law Mary Hendricks Phillips and Robert Phillips. She is survived by her husband David; daughters, Savannah (Jacob Wagoner), and Sierra (Liston Atwell); mother, Donna; siblings, Tina Hess, Kendra Hood, Kenny Bunton, Daniel Rae; nieces and nephews, Autumn Yost, Billy Yost, David Hood, August Hood; “group home” children, and loving extended family. She would want us all to remember “Don’t Start No Sh*t, Won’t Be No Sh*t!”

To know Sebrina was to know unconditional love. If love could’ve saved her, she would have lived forever.

A celebration of life for Sebrina Phillips will be planned for the spring.

In lieu of memory, donations to Mercury One or Samaritan’s Purse would be greatly appreciated.

The family would also like to thank the ICU and Palliative care team at Atrium Health for their care and support.
